| Research and Application of the round billet outer contour Detection System |

Abstract In the process of round billet continuous casting, we always measure the round billet outer contour using manpower method. Because the circumstance of manpower measure method is very bad and the result error is big, in the paper, we bring forward a new round billet outer contour detection system. We use machine vision and image processing technique to analyse the roundness of the round billet outer contour, provide the result to the operators in real time to help them to adjust the produce technology parameters and improve the quality.
