Criterion Conditions for Formation of a Single and Double Recirculation Flow Pattern in a Slab Continuous Casting Mold with Argon Gas Blowing |

Abstract The formed conditions of a single and double recirculation flow pattern in a slab continuous casting mold with argon gas blowing were quantitive described using the Lagrange multi-phase flow model, and the prediction was validated by the water model. The functional relationship of dimensionless criterion number and gas-liquid volume ratio, which the number is integrated with the relationships including flow rate of gas and liquid, density of gas and liquid, slab size, and tilt angle of the nozzle port, is proposed to discriminate the boundary of single and double recirculation flow pattern that the prior is above the critical curve and the latter is below the curve.
