Study on hot ductility of SAPH440 steel |

Abstract Hot ductility of SAPH440 steel contained Ti cc slabs, produced by PAN STEEL, was measured with Gleeble 1500 hot tensile machine in temperature range of 1400~600℃. The fracture appearance and microstructure were examined. The first zone of low ductility was found in the range of TL~1350℃,the third zone of low ductility was found in the range of 950~725℃. The two main causes for the low ductility are the precipitation of A1N and formation of network-shape ferrite at grain boundaries. Enhancing the temperature over 950℃ during bending and straightening is beneficial to reduce the surface cracks.
