Effect of Fag End Electromagnetic Stirring on Inside Quality in Con-Casting Billet of Bearing Steel |

Abstract The effect of fag end electromagnetic (F-EMS) on center equiaxial crystal zone proportion, carbon, phosphorus, and sulphur segregation, porosity and sink of con-casting billet (180 mm×220 mm) in different technology parameters has been tested and analyzed. The results showed that the average center equiaxial crystal zone proportion in con-casting billet with F-EMS increasedfrom 42% to 69% in the billet without F-EMS when the F-EMS parameter was set on 12Hz/350A. The grade of center porosity, sink and center segregation was decreased to 1.0, 0 and 0 from 3.0, 1.5 and 1.5 without F-EMS, the extreme content of carbon, phosphorus and sulphur was decreased to 0.016%, 0.001% and 0.001% from 0.042%, 0.003% and 0.002% without F-EMS when the F-EMS parameter was set on 10 Hz/300A.
