Abstract Some basic questions of roller layout and related equipment design were discussed��such as deciding value of nominal roll gap�� segments gap spacing�� roll gap adjustment method suitable for requirements of soft reduction or heavy reductionprocess�� roller layout olignment operation and requirements for parameters of segments equipment during accident slab treatment process. This article intends to explain some basic design concept.
