Abstract Considering the application of refining field in the third steelmaking plate of Han-Steel�� the monitoring system during LF refining furnace production process is developed based on PLC. The system configuration�� database development and data communication are discussed and the design process and main function are introduced. The reasonable process mode is formulated using fully automatic monitoring and history inquiry functions of the system in charging��bottom blowing��power supply��temperature measurement��wire feeding��static blowing��etc. during refining production process��and supervise the field operators in accordance with the standard operation process. It implements fine control in field and reduces the cost of the alloy and the power supply��which obtains good economic results.
