Abstract Combining with the main characteristics of middle-thin slab caster in tangsteel, this paper analyses reasons of the longitudinal crack , edge crack and slag inclusion on the slab surface , and optimize the composition of molten steel, optimize the equipment function of mold and segment, optimize the structure of SEN and the properties of mould powder, realize constant casting speed and stable control of T.O . through above technical countermeasures , the slab surface defect was controlled effectively , longitudinal crack rate was decreased from 5.2% to 0.67% , edge crack defect due to mould taper decreasing was eliminated , slag inclusion rate of slab surface was decreased from 14% to below 3%.
