Optimization practice of corner radius of billet mold |

Abstract The effects of corner radius on the thermal conductivity of the billet, growth of the primary shell and corner quality were studied. It showsthatcornerradiusof 160 mm×160 mm cross section arechanged from R8mm to [R12 mm,]the probability of corner crack increases from 63.6% to 85.8%, but the resistance of casting slab becomes larger. Corner radius of Section 220 mm×260 mm changed from[R8 mm]for the[R12 mm]is too large, the corner of the crack probability increased from 89.9% to 98.1%, butthedeteriorationof slab shapeappears, so[R15 mm]is more appropriate.
