Optimization of secondary cooling parameter and improvement of center solidification quality of T91 continuous casting bloom |

Abstract The macro-etched samples of bloom were analyzed, which showed the ratio of the central equiaxed crystal was 14%, and central cracks above 1.5 degree occupy 50% accompanied with the center cavity. These defects lead to disqualification of ultrasonic flaw detection . By using weak secondary cooling and adjusting the distribution ratio of each zone, the center equiaxed crystal ratio reached 30%, which eliminates the center cavity andthe center crack less than 0.5 degree occurrence 100%. According to the new process parameters, the center longitudinal wave is all qualified after the RD inspection.
