Abstract Key quality control technologies of FTSC thin slab in Tangsteel was introduced. According to the matching principle between mould cavity shape and solidification shrinkage characteristics of steel grade, by using the integrated control technology of mould wide face funnel shape + narrow face shape + mould powder performance, the longitudinal crack can be controlled on thin slab surface effectively. And the longitudinal crack control technology of peritectic steel on this basis has been developed. Through using dynamic soft reduction, liquid pool control model, dynamic secondary cooling, and the roll gap measuring instrument for detection of segment alignment accuracy, thin slab internal quality is controlled well. By adopting the above key technologies, the slab surface longitudinal crack rate reduced from 7% to 0.4%, and according to the internal quality evaluation of Mannesmann standard, internal crack of medium carbon steel achieve level 1.5, segregation achieve level 1, internal cracks and segregation of low carbon steel achieve level 1.
