Abstract It appeared many problems in a 160 mm×160 mm billet caster during production of varieties of steel， such as many inclusions， poorer internal quality， and surface quality defects. By applying the continuous straightening technique， the new three-dimensional dynamic water distribution model， casting technology intelligent management system， optimization of tundish flow field， the defects of billet quality is reduced sharply and the quality of the product are improved significantly.
