Abstract The mathematical model of transient fluid flow coupled with particle movement was set up and applied to simulate packing sand movement in tundish. Two types of size distribution packing sand movement were analyzed and compared the relationship between size and floating frequency. It indicated that this model was suitable for simulating different size packing sand movement in tundish and also can be a reference for packing sand design.
