A method to measure width of hot casting blank by laser |

Abstract In order to measure the slab width quickly in the process of continuous casting production, the hot slab is often lifted off the roller table with a crane and measured simply with a self-made measuring scale. However, due to the high temperature baking, field staff cannot measure the slab width accurately. Laser rangefinder is used and corresponding device is made. The blank width can be measured quickly without crane. By tracking and comparing, the measured values are accurate and can be measured continuously or at any time.
