Discussion about content of subcutaneous inclusions in casting slab of 2205 duplex stainless steel

Abstract:The quantity and distribution of inclusions in the poison under the surface about 3 mm of casting slab of 2205 duplex stainless steel were statistically analyzed by optical microscopy (OM) using automatic image analysis software. The morphology and composition of the inclusions were investigated using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive Xray spectrometry (EDS). The results showed the inclusion size in casting slab of 2205 duplex stainless steel was mostly 515 μm, and the quantity of inclusions increased from the surface to the 1/4 position along breadth direction of slab. The inclusions in casting slab were all spherical, and the types mainly included CaOAl2O3SiO2 and CaOAl2O3SiO2MgO.
