Abstract��In the national standard of Metallic Materials Brinell Hardness Test��Part 1: Test Method, regulations about the selection of the value of D(diameter of penetrator ball) and 0.102 ��F��/��D����2(the ratio of load to the square of diameter for penetrator ball��s) are given: the thickness of a specimen must be higher than 8 times of the indentation��s depth; the value of 0.102 ��F��/��D����2 should be chosen according to the material of the specimen and its�� Brinell hardness; the value of load should be decided on the basis of the indentation�� diameter ranged over 0.24<d/D<0��6; the penetrator ball of 10 mm in diameter is the preference. Based on the above description, a detailed method about the selection of the value of D and 0.102 ��F��/��D����2 in testing are discussed.
