Abstract��Defects in 37CrMnMo4 drill pipe joints are investigated by using optical microscope (OM), scan electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS) and wave-dispersive X-ray spectrometry (WDS). Results show that structure of the drill pipe joints presents over-burnt status, and there are some segregations of P��Mo��Cr around the free crystallization interfaces and in remelted grain boundaries. It is considered that the segregation of Mo��Cr elements should cause deformation burnt in drill pipe joints.
