Abstract��During the process of fracture toughness test of 7150 alloy extrusion, the prior fatigue crack initiated and propagated inhomogeneously. The fatigue crack exhibited as a fan��shaped appearance. This is attributable to the microstructural inhomogeneity of the specimen through the thickness. The regions close to the specimen surface exhibited greater resistance to initiation and propagation of fatigue crack is resulted from the smaller grain size.
