AbstractThe flatness quality problems such as sidewise bending and warping usually appear in hot rolled sheet product. Residual stress distribution of hot rolled steel sheet before and after straightening was obtained by modified holeCdrilling technique, in order to improving the quality of hot rolled steel sheet product. The experimental results show that the residual stress distribution in the cross section of the sheet before straightening is uneven, and the compressive residual stress in the sheet edge causes edge wave. After rough straightening, the distribution inhomogeneity of residual stress decreases. After finish straightening, the residual stress further reduces and its distribution tends to be uniform. In addition, the residual stress varies with the location of the coil along length direction in the same straightening process, while the value of the residual stress in the middle of the coil is the minimum.
