Abstract��Based on the fracture of loco axle made by EA4T steel , the composition, mechanical property, fracture feature and microstructure of the axle have been investigated; The influence of metallurgical quality on the properties of the axle also have been discussed. It is considered that some internal fracture planes have been observed before the axle breaking during final finishing,and that this internal fracture are relate with looseness,voids and point segregation in the EA4T steel.
