AbstractThe cracks, perforation failure phenomena of the Titanium plate heat exchanger in the nuclear power plant were examined in this article. The fracture, macro- and micro-morphology, material composition and microstructure analysis methods were used to analysis the reason for the failures of heat exchanger. The results showed that it is the serious damage defects formed in the strong deformation zone of titanium heat exchanger during formation process and the vibration during service process, caused the failure of titanium heat exchanger by fatigue cracking. The perforation failure of plate was caused by the abrasion of the micro-particles from sea water.
