Abstract��Visual examination, chemical analysis, metallographic examination, scanning electronic microscope examination and mechanical test were used to analyze the fracture reason of 40CrNiMo drill. The results indicate that 40CrNiMo presents a impact fatigue type of failure. The occurrence of failure was caused by lack of ductility, coarse surface and big impurity in material.��
