Abstract��The influence of overloading on fatigue crack growth rates of aluminum alloy has been investigated by means of the experimental determination and the finite element method (FEM) analysis. The fatigue crack growth rates were tested on MTS��810, and the radius of plastic zone near crack tip was calculated using FEM. The results show that the radius of plastic zone near crack tip under overloading was bigger than that under normal loading,the former results in the stop of crack growth during a period of time after overloading. That means the overloading has the delay effect on fatigue crack growth rates of aluminum alloy.
