Abstract��A series of ratcheting tests and uniaxial tension tests were conducted on 63Sn-37Pb at room temperature, and the effect of loading history on ratcheting strain rate and elongation of material was observed. From tensile ratcheting tests and compressive ratcheting tests, it can be proved that the ratcheting strain is much smaller than the case without previous loading, the prior loading history greatly restrains the ratcheting behavior of subsequent cycling. In addition, the elongation of the specimen is larger than the one with prior loading histories. The ductility of 63Sn37Pb can be improved by heat treatment, meanwhile the elongation percentage of the material can be also effectively enhanced.
