Abstract��The fatigue performance for two heat number of spring steel 60Si2VAT was compared under same heat��treatment process. The result shows that fatigue life is evidently different between two heat number tested. The SEM anlysis shows that the granular carbide appears in the steel with lower fatigue life before quench heating, it undissolved during austenitizing, remained in quenched structure. The undissolved phase gathered locally led to the reduction of fatigue life.
