Abstract��To improve the properties of Ni-based alloy coatings, Ni-based alloy coatings were prepared by pulse current electrodeposition, and scanning electron microscope(SEM), electrochemical and weight loss methods were applied to investigate the effect of adding rare earth element to plating solution on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of the Ni-based alloy coatings. The results show that adding proper rare earth element to plating solution can refine the microstructure of the Ni-based alloy coatings and the surface of the coatings are smoother with the crystal particles being closer. As a result, the corrosion resistance of Ni-based alloy coatings can be effectively increased.
