Effect of Rare Earth on Microstructure and Properties of 25CrMoVB Steel

Abstract��Mixed rare earth of La+Ce were added into steel 25CrMoVB. The results showed that with the increase of rare earth content, the microstructure of hot-forged steel was gradually refining and lower bainite with good toughness appeared in the microstructure of heat-treated steel. The mechanical properties of normal temperature and the yield strength of high temperature were increased significantly by adding rare earth into the 25CrMoVB steel. The impact toughness was improved, especially at normal temperature and at -80 ��. But excess content of rare earth made the mechanical properties decrease.
