Abstract��The causes and formation process of cracks in the edge of Q235B hot-rolled steel plate are studied.The reason of crack in the edge of Q235B hot-rolled steel plate is analyzed by composition analysis, macroscopic crack inspection, optical microscope of the crack organization, scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum.And the formation process of crack is numerical simulated.The result shows that the main cause of crack formation is low melting point and slag inclusions existing in the hot rolled steel plates have not been stitched in the rolling process, so the crack is formed.Through controlling of the inclusion and S content and improvement of the equal heating mode of casting blank, the crack can be reduced or avoided.
