AbstractSince constructional alloy steel bar of Nanjing Steel Group is difficult to be cut for downstream customers, various factors for inducing high hardness are analyzed. Gleeble experiment is conducted to study the effect of finish rolling temperature on the hardness of rolled bar. The hardness was reduced successfully below HB240 and segregation extent was also decreased by adjusting the chemical composition and electromagnetism agitation parameter. By controlling the free nitrogen content, the finish rolling temperature was reduced and the temperature of entering the burial pit was increased. The cutting performance was greatly improved and the extreme difference of carbon content was decreased from 0.08% to 0.04%.
