Effect of Rare Earth on Resistance to H2S Corrosion of 25CrMoVB Steel

Abstract��Different contents of mixed rare earth were added into 25CrMoVB steel by vacuum induction furnace. The relationship between the added quantity of rare earth, the total quantity of rare earth (Re) and the solution content of rare earth (Res) was analyzed. The influence of rare earth upon resistance to H2S corrosion was studied by means of the experiments of sulfide stress corrosion (SSC) and hydrogen induced cracking (HIC). The results showed that all tested steels had good HIC performance and proper content of rare earth which could improve the capability of resistance to SSC for 25CrMoVB steel significantly.
