Abstract��According to the analysis of the plastic failure reason of the high strength spring steels during tension test, this paper describes the normative of the sample processing as well as how the shape of the fixtures affected the tensile properties. The tensile sample and the fixtures cannot keep concentric, which leads to producing the partial load in the test so that affects the authenticity of the test results. According to the principle of keeping the sample and fixture concentric, An improvement is realized by applying the wedge fixtures to clamp sample and the satisfactory result is obtained.
