AbstractThe metallographic microstructure in the high carbon Stelmor wire rods is different from other wire rods such as hot rolled wire rod. In order to measure the percentage of the sorbite microstructures of Stelmor wire rod by rule and line, the characteristics and morphological features of the metallographic microstructure of the Stelmor wire rod were studied and then the metallographic microstructure of the stelmor wire rod was conceptualized into four categories, that is, the flaky pearlite (coarse pearlite), layered sorbitic (fine pearlite), pearlite-sorbitic transition state microstructure (for short:PS microstructure) and non Sorbite microstructure. In accordance with the theory on metal science and diffusion phase transition, the formation and morphological features on the pearlite, Sorbite and transition state microstructure were discussed.
