Control Technology of Upwarping Defects for MRT-4 Hot Rolled Plate

Abstract��MRT-4 steel is a hypo-peritectic steel. Serious quality problems appeared when this kind of steel was produced, which was mostly to be that large numbers of surface upwarping defects exist on the hot rolled plate. So the product qualification ratio was very low. In this work the formation mechanism of surface upwarping defects was studied. The continuous casting, heating and rolling technology of the hot rolled plate production of this kind of steel were optimized. And the surface quality of the hot rolled plate of MRT-4 steel was obviously improved. Production practice showed that the production technique of hot rolled plate of MRT-4 steel in Mei-Steel achieved great advance. The closing off ratio of hot rolled plate reduced from 67% to less than 3%. Moreover, the production control was very steady.
