Abstract��For fracture phenomenon during cold-rolled peeling of 65Mn hot strip steel, the using of the steel and its chemical composition were analyzed. The formation of crack was studied and discussed by metallographic examination, fracture observation, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS).The results showed that the external cause of crack formation was serious sawtooth and burrs at the edge after slitting, and the internal causes were residual stress and inhomogeneous microstructure of hot strip steel raw material.There are sorbite bands with MnS inclusions in the central part of them, moreover, a ferrite band exists on both sides of sorbite band. Controling the quality of raw material during steel making, continuous casting and hot rolling process and improving slitting quality at the same time can reduce or avoid the fracture.
