Abstract��Central crack of GCr15SiMn continuous casting billet was analyzed by means of chemical composition analysis, macrostructure and microstructure examination. The result shows that the crack occurs along the grain boundaries in the center of continuous casting billet having dendrites at each side of the crack. These features indicate insufficient replenishment of liquid metal in the last solidification place, and no timely replenishment causes the cracks in the center.
