AbstractEffect of trace Titanium on microstructure and properties of C-Si-Mn-B low alloy high strength steel were studied by using tensile, impact and flexural testing machines, optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The properties of Titanium-containing steel and Titanium-free steel can meet the requirements of S355J0 standard. The microstructure of Titanium-free steel is composed of ferrite and pearlite, and the precipitates attached to MnS particles is BN particles, which is about 50100nm. The microstructure of Titanium-containing steel is composed of ferrite, pearlite and bainitic, and the precipitates is TiN particles which is about 50150nm. Trace Titanium added can significantly inhibit the precipitation of BN in the C-Si-Mn-B steel, so the content of the solid solution Boron element is increased. It can promote bainite formation in the phase transformation process and refine the microstructure, thus improving the strength.
