Abstract��The quantifying methods which are metallographic and EBSD methods for cementite in aluminum killed automobile steel were researched. It is shown that special etchants have to be first used to tint cementite for metallographic method. Then the quantitative analyses are performed on the tinted microstructure pictures according to the grey distribution by metallographic software. For EBSD method, the cementite is mainly qualitified according to the band contrast distribution. It is found that the metallographic method is simple, time-saving and with less error in comparison with the EBSD method.
