AbstractIn order to analyze the defect formed on the inner surface of 37Mn5 alloy tube through rolling, the metallographic microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum analysis were used. The results showed that some large size composite strip inclusions existed in the tube matrix, which broke the metal matrix continuity, and caused the sandwich forming on the wall. The small sandwiches wrinkled and peeled off metal matrix to form bulges, caused by the frictional force and milling force in tube-piercing process. Therefore, enhancing the molten steel purity is the key method to decrease or eliminate the defect.
