Abstract��In order to ensure the reason of casing fracture failure, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) are respectively used to analyse morphologies, macro and micro fracture detection, domain composition and inclusions. Domain composition analysis and inclusion analysis of different parts of microstructure are used to find out the start failure part. Finally in fracture large Cr oxide inclusions are found. As a result it can be judged that the main causes of N80 casing break fall accident was due to the bad service environment casing in weak link (i.e. large size of oxide inclusions in bending fracture occurred).
