Abstract��The microstructure and properties of laser welding of hot-rolled materials for H300LA and H420LA steel have been discussed. Experiments of hot-rollded materials have been performed by laser welder, weld microstructure was observed by SEM, mechanical property was measured by Vickers hardness, deep drawing property was evaluated by Erichsen tests. The results show that the microstructure of the welding joint?was?columnar grain, followed by solidification theory. Needlelike ferrite and martensite appeared in the melted zone while blocky ferrite and pearlite appeared in the heat affected zone for H300LA. Pearlite and martensite appeared in the melted zone while ferrite,martensite and pearlite appeared in the heat affected zone for H420LA. The hardness values perpendicular to the laser welding seam exhibit three regions: melted zone, heat affected zone and matrix zone. The hardness values parallel to the laser welding seam only have a slight change. The deep drawing property of the welding seam is perfect��the phenomenon of?crack?expansion along the weld didn��t appear.
