Abstract��Q345R hot-rolled coil with unqualified elongation was analyzed. The results showed that the elongation of Q345R hot-rolled coil was unqualified due to the pretty much amount of MnS and Al2O3 inclusion existing in steel; and the micro-structure of hot-rolled coil was asymmetrical along with the direction of thickness, with large amount of bainite + widmanstatten structure in upper side and majorly ferrite + pearlite structure from center to lower side of the strip. Thus, the banded structure of coil was not the reason for elongation disqualification.
