AbstractAiming at solving the cracking problems of pipeline steel 20G during application process, the cracking samples were comprehensively analyzed and discussed by using chemical composition analysis, metallurgical analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy spectroscopy. It was concluded that the failure of boiler pipeline steel 20G was mainly produced by the surface oxidation and erosion-corrosion during the long-term scouring process of fluid flow. It was suggested that piping materials with stronger corrosion-resistance should be used, or the acidity of the flow liquid should be properly controlled, so that corrosion was reduced.
