Abstract��The surface quality of automotive steel sheet is one of the most important focus in production processes. The applications of scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDS) in the quality improvement of automotive steel sheets are introduced including foreign debris�� surface bare spot and streak. With EDS�� special composition in the defect area can be detected quickly and the defect process could be picked out. Investigation scope was narrowed down effectively and relevant measures was put forward quickly to improve the surface quality of automotive steel sheet.
