Abstract��The measuring principle of dissolved carbon content in steels by the method of internal friction was introduced. The influencing factors on measurement of dissolved carbon content in steels, including carbon, alloying elements, cold working and heat treatment temperature, were discussed and summarized. Firstly, the high value of Snoek internal friction peak indicates the high content of carbon in steel, but the temperature of Snoek internal friction peak is almost the same. Secondly, the different alloy element affects the Snoek internal friction peak and the dissolved carbon content.
