Abstract��The rolling torque characteristics were discussed. The calculation model of torque was analyzed to optimize the arm coefficient and adaptive algorithms�� thus improving the calculation precision of torque. The real torque was measured by the strain test�� which further proved the accuracy of torque calculation. The calculation deviation of torque could be controlled within 10% for more than 95% of passes. Meanwhile�� it was found that the magnification factor of torque in most passes was 1.2-1.45�� while the magnification factor in several passes was 1.75-1.9. The test results provided an important basis for the use of real torque on site. The maximum use torque was enhanced by 15% when the equipments were in normal running. The capacity of rolling mill was further improved�� which provided better conditions for the development of variety.
