Abstract��To the problem of short shrip-type defects on the surface of MRT-4CA tinplate�� the morphology and micro-area composition were analyzed by optical microscope�� scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive spectrum(EDS). The preceding production of the sample sheets such as cool rolled sheets�� pickled sheets and hot rolled sheets were checked and examined. The results show that short strip-type defect was caused by pockmarks on pickled plate surface. And the pockmark was caused by the oxide spalling of rolls.
