Abstract��The main revision contents of YB/T 4188�D2009[Method for the determination of content of magnetic][metallic iron in steel slag]were introduced�� including the particle size of crushed steel slag sample�� the grinding purification equipment of magnetic material�� the grinding time�� the determination of content of magnetic metallic iron in steel slag and grinded magnetic materials on sieve�� the determination of steel slag density�� etc. The experimental studies were focused on the purification effect comparison between sample preparation machine and ball grinding mill�� the comparison of metallic iron content in steel slag�� the comparison of metallic iron content in magnetic materials on 1.18 mm and 0.6 mm sieve after grinding�� the verification tests and reproducibility tests. The magnetic materials could be grinded for 60 min using ball grinding mill followed by screening with 0.6 mm sieve. Then�� the mass fraction of metallic iron in steel slag and in magnetic materials on sieve was determined by hydrostatic balance.
