Abstract��Integrating the ultrasonic flaw detection and macroscopic examination results of steel ingot�� we classified the flaw detection of shrinkage cavity and porosity in steel ingot into five grades and made proposal about how to choose raw material based on this classification during the production of solid piece. Flaw detection quality classification provides foundation for the study of steel ingot ultrasonic flaw detection replacing macroscopic examination. Systematic study may be conducted on the quality of steel ingot by combining flaw detection quality classification and macroscopic examination. This has important guiding significance to practical production.
