Abstract��The different fracture morphology characteristics on tensile and impact specimens of steel plate were collected from many field experiments. The typical fracture samples were compared and analyzed by metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscope to find out the formation cause. The results indicated that the normal ductile fractures in tensile and impact tests exhibited good mechanical properties. For the tensile specimens with abnormal fracture�� the plasticity was low. The brittle impact fracture had poor impact absorption energy. The flaky inclusions existed in layered impact fracture. However�� the impact absorption energy showed no obvious decrease.
