Abstract��The modernization of impact testing machine operation is relatively high at present. After impact testing�� the impact absorption energy can be generally displayed by liquid crystal screen and pointer. The impact testing machines using plate to display the impact absorption energy are less and less. These machines have some advantages such as simple structure and low cost. However�� the impact absorption energy is usually estimated and the accurate reading is hardly obtained. The testing machines using liquid crystal screen to display the impact absorption energy have some disadvantages such as complicated structure and relatively high cost�� but the impact absorption energy can be accurately displayed. The two energy indicating systems were combined into one machine. The impact absorption energy could be displayed by both plate and liquid crystal screen. The comparison and verification were conducted using domestic arc standard samples with low�� middle�� high and ultra high energy. The results indicated that the liquid crystal screen exhibited more accurate impact absorption energy. The reliability could be guaranteed. It was applicable to the equipment for single machine. Moreover�� the cost of complete machine could be also reduced.
