Cause analysis on the corrosion of steel for 3087 boiler

Abstract��The pipe wall of 3087 steel for boiler was seriously corroded. The steel pipe and corrosion products were analyzed by metallographic microscope�� X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscope. It was found that the corrosion products on surface of steel pipe mainly included iron trioxide�� ferroferric oxide and little ferric hydroxide and ferric chloride. Meanwhile�� the content of chloridion in actual use water was relatively high. The content of both dissolved oxygen and total iron was much higher than the upper limit specified in the standard. During the service process of 3087 steel for boiler�� the uniform corrosion and pitting corrosion occurred on the surface of steel pipe due to the high content of dissolved oxygen and chloridion in use water. As a result�� many corrosion products were formed on the surface of steel pipe.
